of the metabolic system and the role of

metabolic dysfunction in type 2 diabetes and obesity.

Diabesity Institute

Our mission is to increase access to effective science-based medical care for those suffering from or at risk for diabesity which currently affects more than half of our population.

The Problem

By 2020, over 60% of all adults in America will be at risk for, or suffer from, type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, or obesity, which are related to many of the leading causes of preventable death. That is the “diabesity epidemic.”

Until now, it has been popular opinion that the problem can be controlled with diet and exercise, but today’s science illustrates that the real problem for most people is metabolic dysfunction—which is a medical condition, not a behavioral issue.

The Diabesity Institute (DI) is the only non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization focused on the science of the metabolic system and its fundamental role in type 2 diabetes and obesity.

John, Seattle, WA

John had always been athletic but his mom noticed he was more tired than he should be. So, even though his weight was normal, she wanted him to have a medical check-up, since obesity and diabetes runs in the family. They discovered John has metabolic syndrome, which includes pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, elevated triglycerides and high blood pressure. Everyone was shocked by the diagnosis because he looks so healthy on the outside. With treatment of his underlying metabolic dysfunction, he is reversing the metabolic syndrome, his energy levels are improving  and he is developing into a healthy young man.
